About The Sutherland Calculator
The Sutherland Calculator is BS-EN12831-1 compliant, and allows a heating engineer to accurately and automatically calculate the appropriate size of replacement central heating boiler for ANY domestic property, including variations in:
- Current heating system installed & fuel being used
- Window types
- Type of Flooring
- Type of Roofing
- External walls
- Dwelling type
- Regional location of dwelling
- associated extensions
Calculations enables the engineer to demonstrate what savings could be achieved in terms of £s and CO2e by:
- adopting alternative home heating systems
- adopting alternative technologies and fuels
- applying energy efficiency improvements to their home such as double or triple glazing, increased loft insulation, the addition of cavity wall insulation, etc
A calculation may be carried out on a main dwelling (MD) that has up to 3 direct extensions (1, 2, 3).
Each direct extension may have up to 2 further sub-extensions (1.1, 1.2 etc)
Each sub-extension may also have up to 2 further sub-sub-extensions (1.1.1, 1.1.2 etc)
Therefore, our calculator can calculate the size of boiler(s) required to appropriately heat a home that has up to 3 levels of extensions
